Slant is an AI assistant built for financial advisors. It streamlines client management, automates day-to-day tasks (including AI meeting notetaking), and surfaces proactive suggestions so advisors can better serve their clients. We understand that you care about your privacy, and we take that responsibility seriously. This privacy notice explains how Slant collects, uses, shares, and safeguards personal data, and outlines the rights and choices available to you. We may update this notice periodically to reflect new practices, technology, or legal changes.

Data Protection Officer

Slant is headquartered in Utah, USA. We have appointed an internal data protection officer (DPO) to address questions or concerns about our privacy practices.

What We Collect and Why

Slant collects personal information about website visitors, account administrators, advisor users, and — when our customers choose to store it — end-client data. We use this data to operate our services, improve user experience, and comply with regulations.

Categories of personal information may include:

• Advisor & firm data: Name, job title, firm name, work email, phone number, licensing or registration IDs
• CRM data you choose to store: Client names, contact details, demographic info, account numbers, meeting transcripts, documents, tasks, and notes
• Pre-meeting context: Calendar entries, agenda items, and reminders
• Usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, page views, and interaction logs

We process this information to:

• Deliver and maintain the Slant platform
• Automate pre-meeting agendas, live transcription, summaries, and follow-up tasks
• Send service-related updates (e.g., billing, features)
• Comply with law and protect our systems

We never sell personal data or allow its use for independent third-party marketing. We only share data with vetted processors who are contractually bound to act solely on our behalf.

Zoom Data Access

If you authorize Slant’s Zoom integration, we may access your Zoom account via the Zoom API. This may include:

• Basic Zoom profile information (name, email)
• Meeting metadata (title, time, participants)
• Meeting audio (if our AI Notetaker joins)

We use this data only to:

• Enable meeting sync and insights
• Join and transcribe meetings
• Deliver summaries and automated follow-ups

We do not store raw audio beyond 24 hours and do not access Zoom data without your explicit OAuth authorization.

Information You Provide

Most data enters Slant when:

• You submit a form on our website
• You import or sync data from another platform (e.g., custodian, calendar, Zoom)
• Our AI Notetaker joins a meeting and records for transcription

Website Usage Data

We collect anonymous log data when users visit our websites, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and page activity. This helps us secure and optimize our site. We do not use third-party marketing cookies or trackers.

Cookies and Tracking

We use first-party cookies for authentication and user experience only. We do not serve third-party ads or use behavioral trackers.

AI/ML Usage

Slant does not use any customer data or meeting content to train generalized AI or machine learning models. Your data is processed only to serve your account and is never repurposed for broader model training.

Data Security

Slant applies administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data:

• AES-256 encryption at rest on AWS
• TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit
• Role-based access control and least-privilege IAM
• Continuous monitoring, logging, and periodic penetration testing

Data Storage and Retention

We retain personal data only as long as needed to provide our services, fulfill legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Transient artifacts like raw meeting audio are deleted within 24 hours. Account-related data may be retained for up to 6 months post-account termination unless required longer by law.

Children’s Data

Slant does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly.

Consent and Communications

We send operational and marketing communications only to users who have opted in. You can unsubscribe or opt out anytime via links in our messages or by replying “STOP.” We do not share your contact details with third parties for marketing.

When using our AI Notetaker in meetings, you are responsible for notifying participants and ensuring lawful consent for audio recording.

When We Share Information

We disclose data only:

• To subprocessors under contract to deliver specific services (e.g., email, transcription)
• To comply with legal obligations or defend claims
• In connection with a business merger or acquisition (with notice)

We do not share data for unrelated third-party marketing or advertising.

International Data Transfers

Slant operates in the U.S., and your data may be transferred to and processed here. Where legally required (e.g., under GDPR), we apply safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.

Your Rights

Depending on your location (e.g., under GDPR, CCPA, or state privacy laws), you may have the right to:

• Access or correct your data
• Request deletion
• Restrict or object to processing
• Export your data (portability)
• Withdraw consent for marketing
• Opt out of data sales or targeted advertising (we do neither)

Do Not Track Signals

We currently do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as no industry standard has been adopted.
